Mississippi State Athletics Further Expands NIL Opportunities Through New Opendorse Marketplace
November 04, 2022 | Athletics
STARKVILLE – As a part of the department's continued efforts to ensure student-athletes can maximize their Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities, Opendorse has officially launched the Mississippi State Marketplace, a one-stop-shop, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) hub for MSU student-athletes.
Through the newly established Marketplace, Bulldog student-athletes are able to engage in promotional and related opportunities from interested third-parties who can browse, propose, book and pay for NIL activities. Student-athletes can review opportunities and accept deals all in one place.
This opportunity, paired with the existing highly successful Bulldog Initiative program, will continue to provide additional opportunities for Mississippi State student-athletes to engage with third-parties for NIL activities. Businesses interested in partnering with student-athletes now have the opportunity to propose a specific deal directly to one student-athlete through the Opendorse platform, or work with the Bulldog Initiative to navigate this new NIL space.
"In our continued effort to provide Mississippi State student-athletes with opportunities to maximize their Name, Image, and Likeness, we are pleased that Opendorse has added a platform through which third-parties can directly browse, propose, book and pay for NIL opportunities" said Mississippi State's Interim Director of Athletics, Bracky Brett. "This new opportunity, coupled with the success of The Bulldog Initiative will enable Mississippi State student-athletes the best opportunity to maximize their brand and their Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities. I ask our Bulldog Family to continue doing what they can to support these outstanding student-athletes."
"Along with our many other relationships and partnerships, this is another example of our deep commitment to work with our student-athletes to facilitate and maximize their NIL," said Jay Perry, newly appointed Associate AD for Legislative and Internal Affairs and point of contact for the department's NIL efforts. "It is an exciting time at Mississippi State. We look forward to our continued growth in this space as the NIL landscape evolves."
Through the Opendorse platform, each Bulldog student-athlete will receive a customizable profile which they will be able to share through their social media platforms and other mediums. Once an NIL deal has been offered, they can review and accept the transaction through the Opendorse app.
Once payment is complete, student-athletes will immediately receive compensation and the Mississippi State Athletics compliance office will be automatically notified of the NIL activity.
In addition to the Mississippi State Marketplace, MSU student-athletes will also continue to receive access to numerous other benefits through the department's partnership with Opendorse, which began in 2019, including on-demand access to photo and video content created by the department, compliance resources and virtual education sessions with industry leaders.
The Opendorse marketplace is built on a decade of athlete marketing technology and experience. Opendorse has facilitated hundreds of thousands of NIL deals and endorsements with athletes at all levels of sports. The Opendorse marketplace is used by more than 90,000 athletes to manage deals from pitch to payment, and even tax preparation.
