STARKVILLE – Week 7 in the NFL saw plenty of standout defensive performances by former Mississippi State players.
In total, Bulldog defenders racked up 39 tackles, six tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks during Week 7 including a two-sack showing by Chris Jones of Kansas City. Jones' second sack also forced a fumble that the Chiefs were able to recover in their road victory at San Francisco.

The Tennessee Titans defensive line duo of Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons also provided a sack each in their win over Indianapolis. It was the third consecutive game for Autry to record a sack and brings his career total to 44.5. Simmons had two tackles for loss, including his 18th career sack.
Speaking of sacks, Cleveland Browns rookie cornerback Martin Emerson notched his first career sack on the first play of the second half against Baltimore.

Other peak defensive performances were provided by safety Johnathan Abram, who finished second on Las Vegas with eight tackles, and Kansas City linebacker Willie Gay Jr. Gay also notched eight stops – third on the Chiefs – and was credited with a half-sack.

But it wasn't all defense as former MSU quarterback Dak Prescott made his triumphant return under center for the Dallas Cowboys. Prescott, who had been out since suffering a fractured right thumb in the season opener, led the Cowboys to a 24-6 win over Detroit on Sunday completing 19 of 25 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
Elgton Jenkins and Charles Cross played every offensive snap for the Packers and Seattle Seahawks, respectively, while Tyre Phillips logged 58 snaps at tackle for the New York Giants.

Logan Cooke continues his tremendous season punting for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cooke boomed two punts for a 53-yard average against the Giants and his 45.4 career net punting average is still the most in NFL history.
Defensive end Gerri Green was released from the Titans' practice squad on Oct. 24.
