Rogers Named To Davey O’Brien Great Eight List

STARKVILLE – For the second week in a row, Mississippi State junior quarterback Will Rogers was selected to the Davey O'Brien Great Eight list following his performance in Saturday's win over Arkansas.
Rogers, who was also named the SEC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, threw for 406 yards with 32 completions and three touchdown passes to help lead the Bulldogs to a dominant 40-17 win over the Razorbacks on Saturday.
The junior set a new SEC career record with 947 completions in just 28 career games for the Bulldogs. The previous record was held by former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who had 921 completions in 52 career games.
In week six, Rogers posted the highest passing grade among all SEC quarterbacks according to PFF (81.7). His performance against the Razorbacks also marked the fifth time in six games this season he has passed for more than 300 yards.
Rogers enters week seven ranked first nationally in passing yards (353.5) and completions per game (33.8), while he leads the SEC in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions and completion percentage.
Rogers was joined on this week's list by Max Duggan (TCU), Quinn Ewers (Texas), J.J. McCarthy (Texas), Drew Pyne (Notre Dame), C.J. Stroud (Ohio State), Dorian Thompson-Robinson (UCLA) and Clayton Tune (Houston).
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week will be selected from this group of eight and announced at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
