#FromStateToSundays: Wild Card Preview

STARKVILLE – It's Wild Card Weekend in the NFL and plenty of former Mississippi State Bulldogs will play prominent roles in helping their teams advance in the playoffs.
Kicking off the weekend will be K.J. Wright and the Las Vegas Raiders as they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals at 3:30 p.m.
It will be second meeting between the two this season. Cincinnati prevailed with a 32-12 victory in Las Vegas during Week 11. Wright started and made two tackles in that contest.
On Sunday, Fletcher Cox and Darius Slay get the day started at noon as their Philadelphia Eagles invade the defending Super Bowl Champions in Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers edged the Eagles 28-22 in Philadelphia during Week 6. Cox and Slay both started that game with Slay notching three tackles and Cox adding two stops and a quarterback hurry.
Dak Prescott will lead the Dallas Cowboys into battle as they host San Francisco at 3:30 p.m. Prescott is the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week following his franchise record-setting five touchdown passes against Philadelphia in Week 18.
Sunday will be the first meeting between the Cowboys and 49ers this season.
Willie Gay Jr., Chris Jones and the defending AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs close out the weekend games involving Bulldogs. The Chiefs host Pittsburgh on Sunday at 7:15 p.m. in a rematch from Week 16.
Kansas City claimed a 36-10 victory in that contest with Gay and Jones both starting. Gay finished with five tackles against the Steelers while Jones tallied three stops.
The Tennessee Titans defensive tandem of Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons received a first round bye in the playoffs as did Preston Smith and the Green Bay Packers.
Several MSU players signed futures contracts this week. Deion "Shaq" Calhoun (Washington), Greg Eiland (Seattle), Farrod Green (Indianapolis), Braxton Hoyett (New Orleans), Kobe Jones (Tennessee), Will Redmond (Indianapolis) and Marquiss Spencer (Denver) all inked with those respective teams.
Futures contracts are teams claiming the rights to players for the following season. They act just like normal contracts, but they do not count against the team until the following season officially begins.
