STARKVILLE – Three former Mississippi State players had the opportunity showcase their talents with the world watching on Monday Night Football.
Dak Prescott tossed three touchdown passes in the Dallas Cowboys' 41-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the 20th time in his six seasons with the Cowboys that Prescott has thrown three or more TDs, which ties him with Danny White for the second-most in franchise history.
Prescott completed 21 of 26 passes for 238 yards against the Eagles and became just the second Cowboy along with Troy Aikman (1993) to complete 80 percent on consecutive weeks. His 77.5 completion percentage leads the NFL and is the second-highest in the Super Bowl era during the first three games behind Drew Brees (80.6-percent, 2018).
All six of Prescott's passing touchdowns this season have come outside the numbers, which ties him with Tom Brady and Kyler Murray for the most in the NFL this year.
But Prescott was not the only former Bulldog to produce points on Monday. Philadelphia's Fletcher Cox recovered a Prescott fumble in the end zone for his third career touchdown. It was the first time Cox has found the end zone since Sept. 10, 2017 and marked his third career scoop and score, which ranks him third all-time in NFL history among defensive linemen.
Darius Slay also had a solid defensive display for the Eagles, totaling four tackles including one for loss and also stopped Ezekiel Elliott from scoring inside the 1-yard line.
Logan Cooke continued his strong punting performances for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cooke averaged 48.2 yards on six punts and remains atop the league leaderboard in punt yardage (813) and net average (46.3).
Johnathan Abram finished third for Las Vegas with seven tackles in the Raiders' 31-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Preston Smith picked up a sack for the Packers while the Chiefs' Chris Jones added a tackle for loss.
Montez Sweat had three tackles and a quarterback hit on Sunday. Sweat now holds the Washington record for the most hits on a quarterback during a player's first 35 games and also ranks second among players drafted in 2019 with 21 career tackles for loss.
