Honiotes' Helping Hand

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State track and field's Audrey Honiotes was honored for her immense number of community service hours by being named to the SEC's Community Service Team, the league announced Friday.

Honiotes, a Hartwell, Georgia, native, had the goal to accumulate 500 community service hours in her senior year. She volunteered for a total of 487 hours at 13 different organizations.

Out of those 13 organizations she worked with, she is most proud of coordinating the first athletics-wide clothing drive in MSU's history in partnership with Bulldogs C.A.R.E. Every sport donated athletics gear which was then boxed up and given to local children. They ended up collecting 20 boxes worth.Â

In her time at Mississippi State, she has volunteered for Bulldogs C.A.R.E., First United Methodist Can Food Drive, Habitat for Humanity Restore, TK Martin Center for Learning and Disability, Noxubee Wildlife Refuge, Read Across America, Starkville Library Reading Railroad, Starkville Women's Shelters, Carrington Nursing Center, St. Jude Dance Marathon, Oktibbeha County Humane Society, Operation Ukraine, Center for Breast Health and Imaging, Children's of Mississippi Hospital, City of Starkville Voting Registration, National Girls and Women in Sports, Joe Bearden Dairy Research Farm, Be the Match, United Way Can Food Drive, Super Gabe 5k, Starkville Middle School Cross Country Race, Starkville Community Farmers Market, Salvation Army Starkville, TK Martin Fun Run, The Junior Auxiliary Group Toy Drive, Mississippi State Athletics Clanga Christmas, First United Methodist Church Adopt a Child.

She served as the president of Bulldogs C.A.R.E., and the duties she performed with the 27 different organizations range from coordinating donations and informing of items that can be donated to cleaning kennels, showing how to milk a cow and cutting drywall.
