Summer Softball Underway

STARKVILLE – A trio of Mississippi State softball players will spend their summer competing in the Florida Gulf Coast League. Outfielder Allison Florian, infielder Phoebe Florian and pitcher Kenley Hawk opened the FGCL season on Thursday, June 17 and will continue playing in Florida for the next month.

The Florian sisters are playing together with Impact Softball. Hawk will play as a member of the Manatee Squeeze. Impact Softball and the Manatee Squeeze will meet twice this summer allowing the Florians and Hawk to meet head-to-head. The first game of the season series will be played on Friday, June 18 with the second matchup set for July 7.

Both teams will have the opportunity to play international teams ahead of the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. Hawk's Squeeze meets Team Mexico on June 27, and the Florians will play Team Canada on July 4.

The league is made up of 10 teams with players representing every major collegiate conference. Teams will play a 22-game regular season, ending on July 14. The FGCL All-Star Game will be played on Friday, July 16, and the playoffs will be contested on July 17-20. All-Stars will also play an exhibition contest against the USSSA Pride following the conclusion of the season on July 22-24.

Fans can watch games live through the FGCL's partnership with the USSSA Pride. Full access for the entire season including 115 regular-season games, the all-star game and playoffs will cost $124.99.
