Fagan Selected To SEC Community Service Team
May 13, 2021 | Softball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State's Grace Fagan was selected to the SEC Community Service team during the Bulldogs' SEC Tournament game on Wednesday morning. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Fagan leads the Bulldogs in community service hours. She has given multiple presentations to young people on the importance of academics and making good grades if they hope to pursue a collegiate athletic career. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, she spoke to the New Jersey Witches softball organization on four separate occasions. She also served as a guest speaker for the Birmingham Thunderbolts and has visited her elementary school and a local Little League in her hometown.
In addition to her pre-med studies, Fagan is an avid painter and artist. She used her artistic talents to draw a coloring page for patients at the Children's Hospital of Mississippi. She also recorded a video to send to the children. She has participated in both the Pink Dawg Walk for breast cancer awareness and the Geaux Teal Walk for ovarian cancer awareness as well.
The Bulldogs will play top-seeded No. 4 Florida in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday, May 13 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The game will air on SEC Network.
