Bulldogs Cap Regular Season At LSU Tiger Golf Classic
April 05, 2021 | Women's Golf
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Mississippi State women's golf program wraps up its regular season with the 39th edition of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic beginning Tuesday.
Â
The two-day, 54-hole event will take place from Tuesday, April 6, through Wednesday, April 7, with two rounds taking place on the first day of the event. State will be competing at The University Club, a par-72, 6,350-yard course.
Â
The field consists of host No. 4 LSU, along with No. 5 Florida State, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 9 Auburn, No. 10 Georgia, No. 16 Arkansas, No. 23 Alabama, No. 24 Florida, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Pepperdine.
Â
"This is our last opportunity to compete before heading into postseason play," MSU head coach Charlie Ewing said. "It's a great week to build momentum. As a whole, this group is really hungry and clearly getting excited for the stretch of golf we have coming up. It's a really fun team to coach and has been great to see everyone's growth and progress through the semester. We know this is a capable team with a very high ceiling. We are hopeful and confident that the results will fall into place as long as we are in love with the process and stay in total control of what we can control."
Â
Leading the Bulldogs, senior Blair Stockett will take the number one spot for this event. Stockett has competed in every event this spring. Behind her is sophomore Ashley Gilliam, coming off of a strong performance in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, where she tied for 16th place. Gilliam has a quick turnaround after competing in the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur last week.
Â
In the third slot is redshirt sophomore Hannah Levi. Sophomore Abbey Daniel and graduate Clara Moyano will round out the team of Bulldogs competing, while junior Lauren Miller will compete as an individual.
Â
All three rounds will be a shotgun start with Tuesday's opening round beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. The pairings will remain the same for round one and two on Tuesday, as MSU will be accompanied by Kentucky and Tennessee.
