After two assists and a goal against Columbus State, the junior earns the award.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State soccer's Monigo Karnley garnered the Co-Offensive Player of the Week honor, announced by the SEC on Monday.
Â
The junior scored her fourth goal of the season and sandwiched it with two assists on April 1 in the match against Columbus State. Her assists were her second and third of the season.
Â
Her four points against the Cougars was more than she had in the entire 2018 season. It's the most points she's scored in a single match in her career.
Â
Her goal against Columbus State happened this way: there was a scrum on the bench-side of midfield, the ball popped out to Hannah Telleysh who swiftly passed it downfield to Karnley. Karnley then shot it straight past the Cougars' netminder for the goal in the 60th minute.
Â
Karnley assisted Madison Cotta in her first career goal coming in the 29th minute of the match, as well as assisting Onyi Echegini in her fifth career goal in the 67th minute.Â
Â
She's had three game-winning goals this season, two coming in the fall and the third coming against Troy.Â
Â
It was State's fourth-straight win and third-straight clean sheet in the match with Columbus State.Â
