Mississippi State Announces Fan Attendance Guidelines For Softball
February 09, 2021 | Softball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State announced capacity restrictions and safety guidelines for the 2021 softball season on Tuesday (Feb. 9). The Bulldogs open the season on Saturday, Feb. 13 with a double-header against Miami (Ohio).
Â
State will host 31 home games and an additional 12 contests for visiting teams across two home tournaments.
Â
In accordance with all current State of Mississippi guidelines, policies, and regulations, MSU anticipates Nusz Park shall be limited to a maximum of 25 percent of available seating capacity to ensure a minimum of six feet of social distancing between persons not in the same household. Properly spaced and marked grandstand seating will be available in two- and four-seat pods. Also, a limited number of spaced and marked boxes on the outfield deck will be made available for up to four individuals from the same household.Â
Â
Face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required for all guests during ingress, egress, and movement throughout the stadium, as well as any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.
Â
MSU softball games will continue to be free for all fans, and no tickets are needed for entry. However, entry will be allowed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and the maximum capacity cap will be strictly enforced. Guests should enter through the main gate at the Nusz Park and the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
Â
For the 2021 season, crossover movement between the two venues during simultaneous events will not be allowed if either facility has reached its maximum allowed capacity.
Â
In addition, all guests, employees and game workers will conduct a Self-Screening prior to leaving home. Per MSU Guidelines, this should include an "at-home" temperature check, and review of potential COVID-19 symptoms including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, and a new loss of taste or smell. If anyone has any of these symptoms or a fever of greater than 100.4 degrees, the person should stay at home.Â
Â
Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures will take place throughout the venue prior to and periodically during all games. Hand sanitizing stations and increased directional signage will be in place to help encourage physical distancing.

 Â
MSU Athletics' concessions partner, Proof of the Pudding, will provide concession options on the concourse behind home plate. The concession menu may vary based on game time, but will include multiple gameday snack options such as nachos, chips, candy, Coca-Cola products and Dasani water. Beer sales will be available for the first time at Nusz Park concession stands with sales concluding at the end of top of the 5th inning of the final game of the day. For alcohol purchases, a valid ID is required, and there will be a limit of two beverages per transaction.
Â
All concessions transactions have transitioned to cashless only.
Â
In accordance with state and university guidelines, policies and regulations, event day social gatherings outside the stadium shall be strictly prohibited. This includes tailgating, picnics, fan zones and similar activities. This is inclusive of parking lots and all tented areas on campus grounds.
Â
In accordance with state and university guidelines, policies, and regulations gameday interactive activities, team autographs, giveaways, on-field activities, recognitions or sponsorship engagements will not be permitted this season.
Â
To further reduce touchpoints and promote social distancing, there will be no printed posters, schedule cards or roster sheets available this season. Digital posters and flipcards will be available for fans via social media and QR codes posted at entrances to Nusz Park.
Â
For the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff and those in attendance, all patrons and guests are asked to follow these important guidelines, directions and protocol instructions while attending games at Nusz Park. Failure to do so may result in removal from the stadium, arrest and/or loss of ticket privileges.Â
