MSU Women’s Golf Set To Compete In Gamecock Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Five Bulldogs are headed to Columbia, South Carolina, as Mississippi State women's golf competes in its third event of the spring season, the Gamecock Intercollegiate.
The three-day, 54-hole event will take place from Monday, March 1, through Wednesday, March 3. State will be competing on the Columbia Country Club, a par-72, 6,297-yard course.
The field consists of host South Carolina along with Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Florida, Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
"This is a quick turnaround, which I think should be a good thing for us," head coach Charlie Ewing said. "We had a good final round in Gainesville and are hopeful that we can take some momentum into this event. It's a very experienced lineup this week and a group that is eager to compete, so there is a high level of excitement about teeing it up. It's always a great opportunity to compete with the best teams in college golf and that's exactly what we get to do this week."
Leading the Bulldogs is sophomore Ashley Gilliam, who fired off a strong 2-under par (68) round on the final day of the Gators Invitational. That marked Gilliam's 18th round of par or better at Mississippi State, tying her for seventh in program history.
Redshirt sophomore Hannah Levi is second in the lineup followed by sophomore Abbey Daniel. Senior Blair Stockett will compete in the fourth position, while graduate Clara Moyano rounds things out for the Bulldogs.
State will tee off at 9:39 a.m. Monday on hole 10. The Bulldogs begin play accompanied by Texas A&M and UNC.
