Day Two of SEC Indoor Championships Sees Records for Bulldogs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On the second day of the SEC Indoor Championships, the Mississippi State track and field team saw a broken record and history made in the pole vault, as well as several personal and season bests.
The day was started with Keshun Byrd and Jesse Henderson competing in the first flight of the long jump. On his first jump, Byrd hit a new personal-best mark of 7.25m. Henderson only jumped once out of his three attempts as he had to warm up for the 60m hurdles semifinals but jumped to a mark of 7.16m. In the 60m hurdles, Henderson finished fifth with a time of 7.79, qualifying him for the finals on Saturday.
In the 400m, Sema'J Daniels ran a time of 48.54, placing him in 20th. Navasky Anderson and Leon Clarke ran in the 800m semifinals, with Anderson finishing third overall, qualifying him for the finals with a new personal-best time of 1:49.88. Clarke came in 20th at a time of 1:51.50.
Chandler Underwood ran in the 5000m, finishing in 16th place at a time of 14:38.58.
The women's side was kicked off with Shayla Broughton, Helen Claire Edmonds and Asia Poe competing in the high jump. Broughton and Poe both had a mark of 1.71m, tying for 12th, while Edmonds tied for 15th at 1.66m.
In the pole vault, Peyton Mickelson broke her own school record, jumping to a height of 4.05m. Her previous best was 4.03m as a freshman. She finished tied for eighth place and is the first women's pole vaulter to score at the SEC Championships for Mississippi State.
The freshmen showed out in the long jump, with Kennedy Jackson finishing eighth with a personal-best mark at 6.01m, and Amy Warren coming in 10th at a personal-best 5.86m. Veteran Broughton finished in 15th with a mark at 5.40m.
The mile saw Sydney Steely just miss the finals on Saturday, placing 11th with a time of 4:46.16.
The freshman Rosealee Cooper moved into the No. 2 all-time spot at Mississippi State in the 60m hurdles in the semifinals, coming in fourth with a time of 8.15. She qualified for the finals on Saturday.
Faith Gilbert came in 12th in the 60m semifinals, posting a season-best time of 7.46. In the 200m, she finished in 16th with a season-best time of 23.93.
Sylvia Russell ran the 5000m, finishing in 12th with a time of 17:16.89.

Day Three
Saturday's competition for the Dawgs will start with Jeremiah Pierce in the shot put at 12:30 p.m. at the Randal Tyson Track Center. At 1:30 p.m. will be Keshun Byrd in the triple jump. Then Jesse Henderson will race in the 60m hurdle finals, set for 2:33 p.m. His performance will be followed by Navasky Anderson in the finals of the 800m at 2:37 p.m. Giacomo DeLuca and Chandler Underwood will close out the individual men's competition with the 3000m at 3 p.m., and the 4x400m relay will finish it off overall at 3:20 p.m. The women's side will see competition starting with Amy Warren in the triple jump at 5:30 p.m. Rosealee Cooper will follow in the 60m hurdles at 6:33 p.m to finish competition for Mississippi State.
