STARKVILLE – Jeffery Simmons and Denico Autry put on a masterful defensive display in the Tennessee Titans' 28-16 win over the Los AngelesRams on Sunday Night Football during Week 9.
Simmons and Autry combined for nine tackles, 4.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and a pair of pass deflections. Simmons alone accounted for six stops, three sacks and three tackles for loss marking the first Titans player with three sacks in a game since 2008.
Simmons' nearly added a safety to his tally, but Matt Stafford was barely able to get a pass off which was intercepted and returned to the 2-yard line and Tennessee scored on the ensuing play.
The standout performance pushed Simmons' sack totals to 5.5 for the year and 10.5 for his career. Autry, who split a sack with Simmons, upped his sack number to five this fall and 35.5 during his eight-year NFL run.
Fletcher Cox also hit a career milestone with his 149th start, more than any other defensive lineman in Philadelphia Eagles history. It ranks as the sixth-most defensive starts in franchise history.
Several other Bulldogs posted strong defensive showings as well. Cameron Dantzler totaled 10 tackles, which was the third-most for Minnesota last week and the second-most of Dantzler's career. Johnathan Abram ranked second on the Raiders with eight tackles while teammate K.J. Wright tallied six stops, including one behind the line of scrimmage.
Dak Prescott returned from a calf injury and tossed two touchdowns and ran in a two-point conversion for Dallas. Elgton Jenkins played every offensive snap for the Packers and posted a game-high 91.3 pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus (PFF).
