Men's Tennis Adds Four Wins At GT Invite

ATLANTA, Ga., - Mississippi State men's tennis earned four victories on Saturday at the GT Invite, doubling up its win total from the previous day at the event.

The Bulldogs picked up three wins on the singles side and their sixth-ranked doubles tandem of Florian Broska and Gregor Ramskogler added to that total with their 6-2 victory over Ole Miss' John Hallquist Lithén and Walker Stearns.

Broska and Ramskogler also won in straight sets in singles as well. Broska, ranked No. 27 as a single, beat Chen Dong of Georgia Tech 6-3, 6-2 while Ramskogler defeated Georgia State's Diego Padilha 7-6(3), 6-2.

No. 92 Alberto Colas also collected a straight-set singles victory over the Rebels' Jakob Cadonau 6-0, 6-2.

MSU did drop a pair of singles matches to both Georgia Tech and Ole Miss. Carles Hernandez fell in a hard-fought three-set battle against Keshev Chopra of the Yellow Jackets 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 and No. 54 Davide Tortora was edged 7-5, 6-4 by Georgia Tech's Ángel Guerrero Melgar.

No. 36 Nemanja Malesevic fell to Lithén 6-2, 6-1 while Stearns defeated Seth Richey 6-1, 6-2.

Malesevic and Tortora also dropped a doubles decision to Padilha and Harvey Maughn 6-2 and Colas and Hernandez fell to Dong and Guerrero Melgar 7-6(1).

The Bulldogs will wrap up their fall on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. CT. Broska and Ramskogler meet Dong Guerrero Melger in doubles while Tortora and Malesevic team up against Stearns and Lithén.

In singles action, Malesevic squares off against Stearns, Ramskogler collides with Cardonau, Broska faces Chopra, Richey battles Padilha, Tortora takes on Georgia Tech's Pablo Schelcher, Hernandez goes against Georgia State's Edward Tymes and Colas meets Patrick Lazo of the Panthers.
