STARKVILLE – Turnovers were key in Mississippi State's 31-17 win over then No. 12 Kentucky this past weekend and they were also the theme of Bulldog defenders in the NFL as well.
Willie Gay Jr. snagged his second interception in as many weeks to setup a touchdown for Kansas City on Monday Night Football while Darius Slay took scoring matters into his own hands by scooping up a fumble and racing 33 yards into the end zone for his second career TD.
Gay finished second on the Chiefs with nine tackles but was not the only former MSU defensive player to shine in that contest. Chris Jones collected his third sack of the season and No. 43.5 for his career. Tennessee Titans' defensive linemen Denico Autry and Jeffery Simmons both had six quarterback pressures apiece, which tied for the third-most in the NFL during Week 8.
Cameron Dantzler nearly joined the turnover club last week as well but his interception against the Cowboys was overturned after a review. Dantzler did however record a career-high two pass deflections to go along with seven tackles.
Gabe Jackson played every offensive snap in Seattle's 31-7 victory over Jacksonville and posted an 86.3 pass blocking grade, the fifth-best grade in the NFL last week according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
But it was not all positive news for the Bulldogs last week. Kylin Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury while returning a kickoff for the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football and was placed on injured reserve on Monday.
Dak Prescott was also inactive for Dallas in Week 8 due to a calf injury.
