November 18, 2021 | Football
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Will Rogers was selected as one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week on Monday and was named Quarterback of the Week by the Manning Award on Thursday.
Rogers tossed a school-record six touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 43-34 victory over then 17th-ranked Auburn last Saturday. The sophomore completed 44 of 55 throws for 415 yards without an interception. It was his fifth 400-yard game of the season and has completed 30 or more throws in every game this year.
Rogers connected with 10 different receivers against the Tigers, four of which caught touchdowns from him. He only threw three incompletions across the final three quarters of play.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder from Brandon, Mississippi currently leads the country in completion percentage (75.7) and leads all Power 5 signal callers with 3,724 passing yards. His 29 passing TDs are tied with Dak Prescott for the single-most in a season in MSU history.
In addition to his recognition from the Manning Award, Rogers also earned Offensive Player of the Week honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Athlon Sports and the Southeastern Conference. He was also named a finalist for the Conerly Trophy.
