Soccer Inks Seven on National Signing Day

STARKVILLE – Head coach James Armstrong and the Mississippi State soccer program have announced the addition of seven new Bulldogs who signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.

The 2022 class is made up of three defenders, one midfielder and three forwards. Of those seven, six of them come to Starkville from the same club team as at least one fellow signee. Three of the signees are from Texas, along with a pair from both Missouri and Georgia.Â

"We are thrilled with the quality and versatility of this group of players," Armstrong said. "All have outstanding character and represent the core values of our program off the field, and the talent and dedication to make an immediate impact to our soccer environment. I am so proud of the tireless work of my staff, none more so than Nick Zimmerman who in his role as recruiting coordinator has played an integral part in formulating this exciting group of players."

Allison Kolski – Defender – Sting Soccer Club – Mesquite, Texas – 5'6"
A product of Dallas Christian High School and Sting SC, Kolski joins the Maroon and White as a 2020-21 Elite Clubs National League All-Conference team selectee during her time with the Sting Soccer Club. The Texas native amassed around 50 goals for Dallas Christian, eight of which came while playing as a defender. Kolski's list of awards range from being named a MaxPreps Player of the Week to making the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools All-District team.

"Allison is a player we have known for a long time. She is an incredibly athletic defender who loves to get forward and join the attack. She has a tremendous work ethic, and her defensive mentality and pace will be a welcome addition to our back line."

Molly McDougal – Defender – D'Feeters Kicks Soccer Club – Prosper, Texas – 5'8"
A product of Prosper High School and D'Feeters Kicks Soccer Club, McDougal joins the Bulldogs with training with the United States u-20 women's national team. This season with Prosper, she was named to the First Team All-District team, and was also named the District 9-6A Defensive Player of the Year. In 2019, McDougal was named to the ECNL All-Conference team with DKSC.

"One of the premier players in the country who is exceptional on both sides of the ball. She has played at the very highest level in club and recently received an invite into the u-20 US National Camp. She can play multiple positions and will bring a degree of leadership to her class."

Lucy Hurst – Forward – D'Feeters Kicks Soccer Club – Melissa, Texas – 5'7"
A product of Melissa High School and D'Feeters Kicks Soccer Club, Hurst joins State as a previously named Best XI player by Top Drawer Soccer earlier this season. During her junior season, Hurst accumulated the second most goals on the team for DKSC. She was also named a District Offensive Player of the Year for three consecutive years (2019-21) during her high school career.

"A dynamic and powerful player who has the versatility to play multiple positions on the field. She has scored goals at the highest level and loves to be a game changer through her relentless work ethic."

Delaney Ahearn – Defender – St. Louis Scott Gallagher – St. Louis, Mo. – 5'7"
A product of Nerinx Hall High School and Saint Louis Scott Gallagher, Ahearn joins the Maroon and White as a 3-star Top Drawer player and former team captain for SLSG. In her most recent season with Nerinx Hall, Ahearn was named First Team All-Conference in a campaign that saw her squad finish runner-up in the Missouri State Championship. In 2019, she was listed as a Top Drawer ECNL Playoff standout during her time with SLSG, and in 2018, she was a member of the ECNL u-15 Midwest championship squad.

"A composed defender in and out of possession. She is a captain on one of the premier teams in the country and demonstrates leadership and competitiveness in everything she does."

Alivia Buxton – Midfielder – St. Louis Scott Gallagher – Fredericktown, Mo. – 5'5"
A product of Fredericktown R-1 High School and St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Buxton joins State after being named the Fredericktown Player of the Year during her high school career. During her 2020-21 season with SLSG, she was named to the First Team All-Conference team. Other distinctions also include a pair of Second Team All-State team honors, as well as two First Team All-District selections.

"A tenacious and tough tackling midfield player who can cover a lot of ground. She is great with the ball at her feet and loves to create and/or score goals."

Maggie Wadsworth – Forward – Gwinnett Soccer Academy – Flowery Branch, Ga. – 5'7"
A product of Flowery Branch High School and Gwinnett Soccer Academy, Wadsworth joins the Maroon and White as a u-19 Southeast First Team, All-Conference team honoree while playing with GSA. During her 2018-19 campaign with GSA, she was named the ECN: Southeast Conference Player of the Year and was also named to the All-America team that same season. In 2019, Wadsworth scored the most goals for Flowery Branch, and was named Region 7-AAAA Player of the Year, and made it to the All-Region First Team.

"Maggie is an out and out goalscorer and one of the premier forwards in the Southeast region. She is capable of stretching the field in behind but also incredibly dangerous on the dribble. Equally comfortable with both feet and has great pace."

Bailey Wagenknecht – Forward – Gwinnett Soccer Academy – Peachtree City, Ga. – 5'4"
A product of McIntosh High School and Gwinnett Soccer Academy, Wagenknecht will be joining State this spring along with a solid list of accolades that includes a spot in the 2021 AAAAA All-Star game. Her run with GSA saw a 2019 ECNL National title, as well as a spot on the 2019 Top Drawer Soccer ECNL National Finals Best XI team. Her 28-goals-and-10-assists performance as a freshman for McIntosh earned her an All-Region and All-County High School Freshman of the Year award.

"A player with next level pace and explosiveness. A forward that never stops running and is willing to chase balls all day. She is going to add a different dimension to our attacking group."
