CLEMSON, S.C. – Mississippi State men's tennis had a better showing on the second day of the Clemson Invite on Saturday.
The Bulldogs split their doubles matches against Liberty and earned a pair of singles wins against the Flames after only winning once against the host Tigers.
Carles Hernandez had a hand in two victories on Saturday. The sophomore from Spain teamed up with Alberto Colas to win in doubles over Josh Wilson and Rafael Marques Da Silva 6-3 and also earned a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(8) victory against Christian Worst in singles play.
"He was great today," said MSU head coach Matt Roberts.
No. 54 Davide Tortora was responsible for State's other win against the Flames as he took care of Thando Longwe-Smit 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
