Windy City Collegiate Classic Suspended in Second Round; Play to Resume Tuesday

Wilmette, Ill.– The Mississippi State women's golf team completed the first round of the Windy City Collegiate Classic before play was halted due to darkness in the second round. The Bulldogs were thru-holes 12-15 and will resume play at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
As a team, MSU was in a three-way tie for seventh with Iowa State and event host Northwestern, shooting 32-over when play was suspended. The Bulldogs were led by the duo of Hannah Levi and Blair Stockett who are both tied for 27th shooting 7-over. Levi was one of three players to eagle during the first day of competition where she eagled hole 15.
Freshman Julia Lopez Ramirez entered the stoppage tied for 34th after carding 8-over, while Abbey Daniel is tied for 55th with 12-over. Rounding out the Bulldogs scorecard is Valeria Mendizabal who is tied for 60th carding a 13-over.
"The course played tough all day, and it's not a very forgiving golf course", head coach Charlie Ewing said. "We came out strong this morning, especially right out of the gates, and we just handled those conditions really well. It was a long day of golf, and the conditions really begin to wear on you, but we played good golf. There was a lot to be encouraged by today and as we finish up round two in the morning and then jump right into round three, we have a really good opportunity to get off to a strong start and post the best rounds that we can."
Teams will stay in their same parings for Tuesday mornings completion of the second round. Following the completion of the second round, MSU will go straight to hole 10 and begin the third round.
