Rogers Named To Davey O'Brien Great 8
October 04, 2021 | Football
STARKVILLE – The awards continue to roll in for Mississippi State's Will Rogers.
The sophomore was selected one of the Davey O'Brien Great 8 quarterbacks on Monday for his performance in the Bulldogs' 26-22 win at then No. 15 Texas A&M.
Rogers completed 46 of 59 passes for 408 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions against the Aggies. It was his third consecutive game to throw three TDs and the fourth time he has done so this season - all of which tie his career-high.
The Brandon, Mississippi native is the only signal caller in the Southeastern Conference with a 400-yard passing performance with three touchdowns this season and Rogers has already accomplished that feat twice this year.
Rogers sits atop the SEC with a 75.7 completion percentage and 1,862 passing yards and also leads the country in completions (215) and pass attempts (284). He completed 78 percent of his passes against Texas A&M and is the most accurate passer in MSU history with a 72.1 percent career completion percentage.
Last Saturday marked Rogers' sixth career 300-plus yard passing game, the second most in school history and trails only Dak Prescott (nine) in that category.
Rogers is the second State quarterback to receive recognition as a Davey O'Brien Great 8 recipient, joining K.J. Costello after last year's win at LSU.
