STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State's men's basketball program reveled its non-conference tip times and television network assignments announced Friday.
The Bulldogs will take on Minnesota (Dec. 5 – 1 p.m. CT) from the Big Ten Conference along with Furman (Dec. 17 – 6 p.m. CT) for nationally-televised contests on SEC Network at Humphrey Coliseum. The remaining six home contests will be streamed online via www.ESPN.com/watch and the ESPN app.
Mississippi State has won 34 of its last 35 non-conference home games under seventh-year head coach Ben Howland. The Bulldogs non-conference home slate features five programs who captured top three finishes in their respective conferences from a season ago.
Mississippi State will take on Winthrop (Dec. 21 – 6 p.m. CT), the two-time defending Big South Champions, from Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The Eagles are coming off a 23-2 season and captured a No. 12 seed before falling to Villanova during last season's NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs begin the season with a four-game homestand versus North Alabama (Nov. 10 – 7 p.m. CT), Montana (Nov. 13 – TBA), Detroit Mercy (Nov. 17 – 7 p.m. CT) and Morehead State (Nov. 21 – 2 p.m. CT).
Montana has averaged 21.3 wins per season dating back to 2017-18 and appeared in two of the last three NCAA Tournaments, while Morehead State notched a 23-8 mark and a NCAA Tournament trip last season.
Following a trip to the Bahamas, the Bulldogs start December with four more home games against Lamar (Dec. 2 – 7 p.m. CT), Minnesota (Dec. 5 – 1 p.m. CT), Georgia State (Dec. 14 – 7 p.m. CT) and Furman (Dec. 17 – 6 p.m. CT).
Georgia State has tucked away 20-plus victories in three of the last five seasons sparked by two NCAA Tournament berths, whereas Furman has claimed 22.4 wins and five top three finishes in the Southern Conference going back to 2016-17.
Mississippi State is already scheduled to face Texas Tech (Jan. 29 – 5 p.m. CT) in the 2022 Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Red Raiders have averaged 23.5 wins over the last four seasons, headed by three NCAA Tournaments appearances and were the 2019 NCAA Runner-Up.
