Cross Country Returns To Action Saturday Morning

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mississippi State's cross country program returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 2 for the 20^th annual Live in Lou Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.

The Bulldog women will toe the line at 10:15 a.m. CT in the women's gold 5K. The course at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park will also host an NCAA Regional Championship in November, making it the second regional site that State has competed at this season.

MSU is one of 43 women's teams at the event highlighted by No. 26 Wisconsin.

"We're finally running with our full squad this weekend," head coach Chris Woods said. "I'm looking forward to seeing how we perform individually and as a collective group against some tough competition."

Mary Beth Woodward is back in the lineup after laying down State's fastest 5K of the year in the Bulldogs' last race. She clocked a personal-best 18:18.2 at the North Alabama Showcase. Freshman Tekara Aimer also ran a personal-best last time out and is in the lineup for the third time this fall.

Ava Weems boasts MSU's second-fastest time of the year after running 18:25.1 at North Alabama. Right behind her is another freshman in Emma Hossack who clocked in at 18:27.2 in her first collegiate event.

Sydney Steely, Hayley Ogle and Faith Duncan round out the Bulldog lineup.
