STARKVILLE – The NFL Playoffs begin this week with seven former Bulldogs starting their postseason run.
Denico Autry, K.J. Wright and Montez Sweat kick things off on Saturday. Tyre Phillips, Pernell McPhee, Jeffery Simmons and J.T. Gray will play on Sunday.
Autry leads off a triple header that will see his Colts travel to Buffalo for a 12:05 p.m. kickoff on CBS. Wright, State's veteran presence in the league, will play the 15th postseason game of his career at 3:40 p.m. on FOX when Seattle hosts the Rams.
Sweat will play his first postseason game in his second NFL season as the Washington Football Team makes its first Playoffs appearance in five years. The franchise will host Tampa Bay at 7:15 p.m. NBC.
Sunday begins with a head-to-head matchup between the Ravens and Titans. Phillips and McPhee travel to Nashville to meet Simmons at 12:05 p.m. on ESPN. Phillips will be tasked with blocking his former teammate in Simmons, as the pair played together in Starkville in 2017 and 2018.
J.T. Gray will be State's final active player this weekend when the Saints host Chicago at 3:40 p.m on CBS.
NFL regulars Chris Jones, Willie Gay Jr., Martinas Rankin, Hunter Bradley, Elgton Jenkins, Will Redmond and Preston Smith have all earned first-round byes with the Chiefs and Packers.
