#FromStateToSundays: State Sends Three To 2021 Pro Bowl
January 31, 2021 | Football
STARKVILLE – For the sixth consecutive season, Mississippi State will be represented in the NFL Pro Bowl. Fletcher Cox, Elgton Jenkins and Chris Jones were selected to the 2021 game, marking the fifth straight season that MSU has seen multiple players honored.
While the game will not be played this season, the NFL's Pro Bowl Celebration will recognize the players on Sunday. The 2021 NFL Pro Bowl Celebration presented by Verizon on ESPN and ABC is an all-access pass to the game's 88 best players. The show, which begins at 2 p.m. CT on both ESPN and ABC, will include round table discussions with NFL Legends, the best from the week's Verzuz matchups and top highlights from throughout the season.
A virtual Pro Bowl will be played at 4 p.m. CT on NFL social channels and EA Madden NFL Twitch. Some of the League's best players and entertainment's biggest celebrities grab their consoles and suit up for an AFC vs. NFC competition on Madden NFL 21.
Cox has now been selected in six straight seasons, the second-longest Pro Bowl streak in Philadelphia Eagles franchise history, one behind Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White. His six nominations are tied for fifth in franchise history.
The veteran defensive tackle finished the regular season with 6.5 sacks and 9.0 tackles for loss. He is now tied for fifth in Eagles history with 54.5 sacks and ranks fourth among defensive linemen with 140 games played.
For the second year in a row, Jones was selected to the Pro Bowl, but will play in the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. He ranked seventh in the league in overall defensive grade this season (90.3) and pass rush grade (93.1) per PFF.
Jones made 36 total tackles in the regular season, with 7.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits, which ranked fourth in the NFL. His Chiefs earned the AFC's top seed and marched to their second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. The defending champions will look to raise the Lombardi Trophy again next weekend.
A versatile offensive lineman for the Packers, Jenkins earned his first career Pro Bowl nod. He is the first Green Bay lineman to start at guard, center and tackle in the same season since 1970 NFL-AFL merger.
Jenkins was one of 23 offensive linemen to play at least 50 percent of snaps with fewer than 15 allowed pressures in the regular season. He helped take Green Bay to the NFC Championship game for a fourth consecutive season, starting at left guard and playing every snap in that game.
