Grimwood Tabbed to 2020 SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After displaying a strong presence in the community and a desire to serve others, Ela Grimwood was tabbed to the Southeastern Conference's 2020 Community Service Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

"Ela Grimwood is the total package," said head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. "She is incredibly intelligent, witty, committed and passionate athlete. She is the epitome of what we want in an athlete and heart-driven student in her community leadership and engagement. She makes us so proud."
Â
Prior to this year, the Auckland, New Zealand native has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and competed in the SEC Championship.

Grimwood made an impact in the city of Starkville and state of Mississippi this year with 50 total hours of community service. The senior golfer participated in 10 events throughout the fall, including a two-day service trip to the Mississippi Delta and multiple events at the Boy's and Girl's Club.Â

During the week before Christmas, Grimwood was one of six MSU student-athletes involved in the Bulldogs in the Delta community service initiative. The group worked in partnership with Delta Hands for Hope and the West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity to complete construction and maintenance projects. Overall, she logged 27 hours of community service during the trip.

Grimwood also served at the United Way City-Wide Tailgate, the United We Feed Food Drive and the annual T.K. Martin Fun Run to name a few.
