STARKVILLE – Hannah Telleysh, a junior midfielder who transferred to Mississippi State from South Florida, is ready to get back to school and get started with her new squad.
Â
Telleysh grew up in a large family and was always surrounded by sports. Along with her parents, one person was there for her at all times – her twin sister, Hailey.
Â
Although they were on opposite sides of the sidelines – Hannah played soccer and Hailey was a cheerleader – they were always there for each other. When Telleysh left for college, she was looking for sisterhood within her new team. She found it with the Bulldogs.
Â
"The team that I have now is just great," Telleysh said. "Everyone gets along. I love that. Once I got to MSU, all of the girls were constantly asking if I needed help finding anything or if I wanted to go eat or hang out with them. They're all so nice."
Â
When she's not playing soccer, she enjoys cooking. Meals have always been a strong influence on her because of her diverse background. Her family traces its roots to Puerto Rico, Germany and India, so she has lots of options when it comes to food.
Â
Now that Telleysh is home for the rest of the semester in Florida with her family, she's focused on improving her cooking abilities.
Â
"My family and all my friends know that I love cooking," Telleysh said. "I've changed my diet a lot, so I'm adapting to liking new things. I just love to cook. I love to bake too. I just learned how to make a marble cake, which was really hard, but it was really fun."
Â
Her culinary skills have always been influenced by her dad, and being him home to cook with him to cook over the past few weeks has been a great opportunity for her.
Â
Living at home isn't her only time to shine in the kitchen. While in Starkville, cooking for her friends is one of her favorite things. She loves to make meals for her teammates and roommates because they aren't as picky as her family she says.
Â
Telleysh has big dreams for her soccer future. After graduation, she wants to play professionally whether that is overseas or in the NWSL. Her dreams beyond that include coaching. She sees herself starting at a lower level such as a club, then moving up to become a collegiate soccer coach.
Â
The club level interests her because it's where she found her love of the game. She has played since she was six, but it was her club coach that made the biggest impact on her. They still keep in touch today, and she says that he is the reason she has thought about coaching.
Â
"He is everything you would want in a coach," Telleysh said. "He changed so many people's lives by helping them get into college, help with scholarships or anything else. All of those things are what I want to do for other people."
