STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's softball team improved to 18-3 on the year after finishing a perfect 5-0 weekend in The Snowman: Alex Wilcox Memorial tournament with two victories on Sunday.
The Bulldogs scored seven unearned runs against Alcorn State on their way to a 9-1, run-rule victory to open the day. MSU then returned to action with a 6-1 win against UT Martin. Over the five games of the tournament, State outscored opponents, 44-9.
Annie Willis was dominant against the Skyhawks (12-8), allowing just two hits and one unearned run. She stuck out six with just one walk.
"When Annie is on, you can definitely tell she's feeling it," head coach Samantha Ricketts said. "She comes out, she pounds the strike zone. She can mix speeds and hit all quadrants of the strike zone as well. She just really has a good presence and confidence out there."
