Perry Collects Second SEC Player of the Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Reggie Perry continued his dominant play during Mississippi State's victories over Florida and Tennessee en route to claiming his second SEC Player of the Week award over the last three weeks announced Monday by the conference office.
For Perry, it marked his fourth career weekly award from the SEC and his second in 2019-20. He was a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week selection last season. This week, he shares the honor with Arkansas' Mason Jones.
The Bulldogs have pieced together separate five-game SEC regular season winning streaks during consecutive seasons for the first time since 1961-62 and 1962-63 under Babe McCarthy.
Perry, one of five Power five players and the only SEC player to average a double-double on the season, piled up 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game on the week. He poured in a career-high 27 points at Florida aided by a 3-for-3 clip on three-pointers and drained a crucial late shot clock trey to push the Bulldogs lead to 68-62 with 4:21 remaining. The 27 points for Perry were the most for a MSU player versus Florida since Marckell Patterson scored 28 on Jan. 10, 2001.
Perry, a SEC Player of the Year candidate, followed that up with a 24-point, 12-rebound effort against Tennessee to collect his SEC-best 12th double-double of the season. It marked Perry's fourth 20-10 outing in his last six appearances. His 21 career double-doubles are tops among SEC active players, and the most for a MSU player during their freshman and sophomore seasons since Erick Dampier notched 20 in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons.
