Bulldogs Strong Spring Start at Westbrook Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – In case you missed it, the Mississippi State women's golf team has had a busy week full of winning titles, breaking records, and beating personal goals.
Here are just a few of the things that this team has accomplished over the last weekend:
Westbrook Invitational:

Abbey Daniel:
"That win meant more to me than any of my precious ones because I did it alongside of seven people who mean the world to me. From coaches to players, I think that win, especially since it was such a long time coming, was really special to all of us."
Ashley Gilliam:
"We played really well this week. I'm so proud of the whole team and how we came together and got this team win."
Blair Stockett:
"All winter, we were so excited to get out there and compete. We work hard day in and day out to make sure that we are the most prepared team at every event we play. It was great to see that work come together and result in a big win for us and the program. This is only the beginning for this team!"
Clara Moyano:
"I'm super proud of all the hard work that this team has put in during the off-season to get where we want to be and where we are right now. This is a really great way to start the season and to see where we are standing, going into the rest of the season."
Lauren Miller:
"I still get the goosebumps thinking about that afternoon. It was an experience that I'll never be able to forget. We have been talking about this moment for a long time and to be apart of it was everything one could hope for and more. I am extremely proud of this group and the work they have put into making this happen. This is only the beginning."

- 24-under-par, through 36 holes
- 32-under-par, through 54 holes
- First team win since 2014, after rallying from down 5 shots going into the back nine
- 32-under ties for 12th best in I Women's Golf NCAA History
- Second round score of 270, 18-under-par, tied the 6th best team round in NCAA Division I women's golf history and broke the previous MSU record by five strokes
- MSU Lowest team score after 18 holes: 18-under par
- MSU Lowest team score after 36 holes: 24-under par
- MSU Lowest team score after 54 holes: 32-unde par
Gilliam's Freshman Records:
- 13-under ties for best finish in relation to par after 54 holes with LGPA's Ally McDonald
- Most rounds in the 60's in a season as a freshman (5)
- Recently featured on @GolfChannel as "Tweet of the Week" for #NGWSD video
- Ashley Gilliam tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week (3 consecutive rounds in the 60's at Westbrook Inv.)
- Freshman Ashley Gilliam's best finish at Westbrook Inv. (Tied 2nd)
- Freshman Abbey Daniel's first Top-10 finish at Westbrook Inv. (Tied 6th)
