Levi Wins Title At 2020 Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic
November 08, 2020 | Women's Golf
ATHENS, Ga. – Mississippi State's Hannah Levi claimed the first individual title of her career after shooting a 3-under 213 at the 2020 Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic.
The Bulldogs placed sixth at the event after shooting a final round score of 300 at the University of Georgia Golf Course on Sunday.
Levi was one of three titlists at the event, joining Mikayla Bardwell of Tennessee and Megan Schofill of Auburn. Levi is the first Bulldog to claim an individual title since Jessica Peng won the 2017 UCF Challenge. All time, Mississippi State now has 27 individual championships in program history.
"It's unreal that I have won my first collegiate tournament," said Levi. "It hasn't set in yet. First and foremost, I have to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the ability to play this game and surrounding me with such amazing people. Secondly, I'm so thankful for my family who have pushed me this far and their unconditional love and support. None of this would have been possible without our amazing coaches and the wonderful teammates that I have been blessed with here at Mississippi State. Even though my family couldn't be here this week to watch me win, my sisters were and that means so much to me."
Levi rolled in 5 birdies in the final round, carding 15 total birdies for the event. Her second-round score of 6-under 66 tied the fourth-lowest round in school history. It also tied the lowest-round since 2017 when Peng shot 7-under at the UCF Challenge.
"I started the day off a little rough," said Levi. "The conditions were much harder today. A lot of putts fell on the back nine though, keeping me in the game. Coach Kortnie [Barrett] staying by my side on the last hole was huge. Her encouragement throughout the whole tournament was so influential. On the last hole, she kept me centered and in the moment. Even though I didn't finish exactly how I wanted, it was a thrill. This is something I will not forget."
Senior Clara Moyano shot her third consecutive 1-over 73 of the event to tie for 13th place with a total score of 219. Senior Blair Stockett tied for 24th, while sophomore Abbey Daniel tied for 45th with a 2-over 74 final round score.
This concludes the fall season for Mississippi State women's golf. Details about the spring schedule will come out at a later date.
