STARKVILLE – Younger Bulldogs were at the center of Mississippi State's NFL Week 8 action.
Kansas City's second-round selection in the 2020 Draft, Willie Gay Jr., made his fourth start in the last five games. Gay has posted 14 total tackles, 1.0 sack and two pass defenses in that span.
Tyre Phillips kept a clean pocket for the second straight game for the Ravens. He posted an 81.2 pass blocking grade, his second-highest mark of the season. Also on the offensive line, Deion Calhoun was activated and played his first game for the Cincinnati Bengals, going head-to-head with Jeffery Simmons of the Tennessee Titans.
Patriots wide receiver Isaiah Zuber was back on the active roster this week and made his second career catch, picking up 13 yards. Zuber has played in four games this season with two catches and two rushing attempts for 50 yards of total offense.
Fred Brown was also activated for his first game action of 2020, playing 21 total snaps for the Denver Broncos.
State's defensive line products continued to perform at a high level. Fletcher Cox recorded seven total pressures, which was tied for second in the NFL this week. He also picked up a sack on a drive that eventually resulted in a safety.
Denico Autry was just behind Cox with a team-high six total pressures, which ranked eighth in the league. Autry recorded 2.0 sacks, making him one of five defenders across the NFL with multiple sacks in Week 8.
Chris Jones was the Chiefs' second-highest-graded overall defender (79.7) and posted a game-high 89.5 pass-rush grade. He ranks seventh in the NFL in 2020 with a 91.8 pass-rush grade for the season.
