STARKVILLE – Elgton Jenkins continues to prove why former Mississippi State players are highly valued in the NFL. The former Bulldog center has now played every position on the offensive line during his first year and a half in the league.
On Sunday, Jenkins started as his usual left guard spot for Green Bay but stayed there for just 10 snaps. Following an injury, he stepped in at center and helped anchor a line that allowed just one sack to the top defense in the NFL.
On the defensive side of the ball, Johnathan Abram posted a game-high nine tackles on defense for the Raiders and added a 10th on special teams. In the same game, Kansas City's Chris Jones recorded a game-high pass rush grade of 84.3, which ranked 14th in the league this week according to Pro Football Focus. Jones totaled six pressures on the night.
A pair of Bulldogs turned Eagles also made significant contributions. Fletcher Cox picked up a sack for the third straight game and added a forced fumble. He now ranks sixth in Philadelphia franchise history with 52.5 sacks. Meanwhile, Darius Slay had the Eagles' highest overall defensive grade (76.8) and the team's top coverage grade (77.5) per PFF.
On special teams, the Saints' J.T. Gray made on tackle on kickoff coverage and downed a punt at the 6-yard line. Jacksonville punter Logan Cooke booted a ball 67 yards for his longest kick since a 72-yard strike in Week 15 of the 2018 season. Cooke has landed eight punts inside the 20-yard line over the last three weeks, which is tied for the most in the NFL in that span.
