Freshman Ettlin Leads Bulldogs At Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – After the second round at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate, Mississippi State's men's golf team remains in 14th place after carding a 6-over 290.
On Monday, true freshman Loïc Ettlin led the way for MSU with an even 71. Senior Garrett Johnson and sophomore Ben Nelson both shot 1-over and are tied for 55th. Also tied for 55th, sophomore Ford Clegg finished the day with a 4-over 75.
The Bulldogs finished the second day of competition with 11 birdies.
"We did a much better job starting our round out today," head coach Dusty Smith said. "I felt like we had a lot of momentum heading into our back nine. Unfortunately, we did not handle it very well and we were not able to finish it off. Golf is a tough and demanding sport. This week it has been hard for us so far. I can guarantee to you that not one feels sorry for us."
"We have to make sure we play with passion and the pride of representing Mississippi State tomorrow," Smith said. "It will be a great opportunity for us and one that will show the character of this team moving forward."
The final round of the tournament will take place on Tuesday. Tee times will be announced at a later time.
