STARKVILLE – Mallory Eubanks, who starred for Mississippi State's soccer program from 2014-17, left the Bulldogs' program with her name in a special place.
Eubanks finished her career in the Top 10 in several categories of the MSU career record books. She is tied for ninth in points (33), second in assists (17), fourth in assists per game (0.24) and fifth in shots attempted (134).
She also excelled in her academic career earning several SEC Academic Honor Roll mentions and spots on the MSU President's List before being named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior.
The power forward from Lexington, Kentucky, had a unique ability to make everyone around her better. Carly Mauldin, one of her long-standing best friends and a teammate for three years, described her as someone who could get along with anyone but, knew when to get down to business both on and off the field.
"Playing against her made me better because she would come into practice wanting to be the best," Mauldin said. "When you play sports, you have a competitive side of you. She always brought that to the team. Hanging out with her outside of soccer, I learned how to be a leader on and off the field. On the field was the easy part. Hanging out with her off the field though, you really got to see how she treated people."
Eubanks had previous national training camp experience in high school where she shared the field with the elite athletes and instilled the training habits she brought with her to MSU.
In her first season in Starkville, Eubanks was one of two players to start all 18 matches in the 2014 season. She recorded her first career goal on her first career shot in the season opener. She added four assists that year and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
Her sophomore season was the beginning of her offensive growth. Eubanks was named as a captain for the team and started all 18 games again for the second year in a row. She earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors mid-season after scoring the game-winning goal against Arkansas to give State its first conference victory in 23 such matches.
She was named Offensive MVP by her teammates after leading the team with 10 points and 40 shots.
By her junior year, she was recognized as one of State's premier players and was named to the SEC Preseason Watch List. Eubanks led the team in goals, assists and points on her way to Second Team All-SEC honors.
Eubanks' senior year left her mark on the Bulldogs. She was again selected to the SEC Preseason Watch List and earned Second Team All-SEC honors. She posted six assists while playing as a midfielder and was second on the team in points.
Her career caught the attention of the NWSL's Washington Spirit, which selected her 16th overall in the 2018 NWSL Draft. Eubanks played 12 games, making five starts, as a rookie for the Spirit that year.
Eubanks' professional and international career was nothing short of phenomenal. She was the highest NWSL Draft pick in program history and has since seen time with the U.S. U-23 National Team. She started three matches with the U.S. women against the Houston Dash, Portland Thorns FC and Chicago Red Stars. She also saw time with the U-19 National Team in New Zealand during her Bulldog career.
