Gilliam Advances to Match Play at U.S. Women’s Amateur

WEST POINT, Miss. – After carding a 2-under par (70) in the second round of the 2019 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship on Tuesday, Ashley Gilliam finished even par during stroke play and advanced to match play at Old Waverly Golf Club.
Gilliam made the cut after birdieing twice, including the last hole of the day, and shooting for par on every other hole during the second round to solidify her spot in the top 64. In the first round, she finished 2-over par (74). She finished stroke play tied for 21st.
Gilliam, who also advanced to match play in the 2018 U.S. Women's Am, will be competing against Katie Chipman at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday. Chipman finished 4-over par in the first round but rallied by carding a 3-under par on Tuesday to finish tied for 33rd at 1-over par for stroke play.
Match play will receive live network coverage on FS1 and live streaming coverage will be available on the USGA website.
