Bulldogs Announce 2019-20 Cross Country, Track And Field Schedules

STARKVILLE – Head coach Chris Woods released Mississippi State track and field's indoor, outdoor and cross country schedules for the 2019-20 athletic year on Monday.
Fans will have two opportunities to see the Bulldogs in Starkville during the outdoor season: the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays (March 27-28) and the Maroon and White Invite (May 1-2).
"I'm excited for the year we have ahead of us" Woods said. "We have a really young team which is exciting for the future. This schedule allows us to be competitive at every competition we travel to as well as evaluate our progression from one competition to another."
Cross country coach Patrick McGregor's first meet leading the Bulldogs' is just two weeks away. State will open the year on Sept. 9 in Huntsville, Alabama, at the UAH Charger Invite.
The Bulldogs then head to Nashville, Tennessee, on Sept. 14 to compete in the Commodore Classic before returning to Kentucky for a second straight year to run the Greater Louisville Classic on Sept. 28. To wrap up the regular season, the Maroon and White travel to Montevallo, Alabama, on Oct. 12 to run in the UAB Blazer invite.
MSU heads back to the state of Kentucky on Nov. 2 for the SEC Championships hosted by the Kentucky Wildcats. McGregor's squad then travels to Tallahassee, Florida, for the NCAA South Regional Championship with the hopes of qualifying for a trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Indoor season opens on Jan. 10 at the UAB Blazer Invite. The Bulldogs will make their first of two trips to Nashville, Tennessee on Jan. 17-18 before taking a week off. State closes the month of January with a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the Power 5 Invitational before taking its second bye week.
The Bulldogs will have two weekends of split meets in February. On Feb. 14-16, MSU student-athletes will compete at the Tiger Paw Invite in Clemson, S.C. and return to Nashville for the Music City Challenge. The following week, a group will head to the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame and the JDL Invite in Winston Salem, N.C.
The indoor season closes with the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, on Feb. 28-29. Those that qualify for nationals will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 13-14.
MSU opens its nine-meet outdoor campaign at home on March 27 in the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
The Maroon and White then make two trips to SEC foes, competing at the Florida Relays (April 2-4) and Crimson Tide Invitational (April 10-11).
A three-meet trip out west awaits on April 16-18 as the Bulldogs will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Long Beach State Invite in California.
State returns to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Invite on April 24-25 before ending the regular season at home during the Maroon and White Invite (May 1-2).
The SEC Outdoor Championships (May 14-16) will also be held in College Station. In 2019, the Bulldog's saw nine athletes climb the podium, their highest number of medalists since 2003. State's postseason run continues at the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, Kentucky, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 10-13) in Austin, Texas.
