COLLEGE STATION, Texas – With severe storms rolling through College Station forcing a five-hour delay at the 2019 SEC Softball Tournament, Mississippi State's Wednesday night contest against No. 17/19 Ole Miss has been postponed until Thursday.
First pitch at Davis Diamond is slated for 12:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Follow @HailStateSB on Twitter for updates on official start time and any further delays as more inclement weather is forecasted for Thursday in College Station.
The 12th-seeded Bulldogs opened the SEC Tournament earlier today with a 3-2 victory over host school and 13th-seeded Texas A&M to advance to a matchup with fifth-seeded Ole Miss.
The in-state rivals are meeting for the fourth time this season as the Rebels took the regular-season series in Starkville. Mississippi State leads the all-time series 40-28 and are meeting Ole Miss for just the second time at the SEC Tournament. The two squads tangled in postseason play during the 2017 SEC Tournament with the Rebels earning a 2-1 victory.
Mississippi State is looking to win multiple games at the SEC Tournament for the first time since 1999.
The winner of Thursday's contest will be back in action in College Station on Friday, May 10, taking on fourth-seeded Kentucky at 10 a.m. CT.
