
Distance Duo Selected to SEC Community Service Team

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Stephen Jones and Kristy Terp have been named to the SEC Community Service Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Jones, a junior from Troy, Ohio, has qualified for the NCAA Championships next week in the 3000m steeplechase after breaking the school record in the event at the NCAA East Prelims last week.
He volunteered at multiple fun runs and 5Ks this year and was among the team leaders in total service hours. Jones helped repaint the Starkville Boys and Girls Club and participated in home builds with Habitat for Humanity. He is also an active member of MSU's M-Club and served as an officer last spring.
Terp, who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, graduated this spring with a 4.0 GPA in biological sciences on the pre-med track.
The Two Rivers, Wisconsin, native donated more than 175 hours of service over her career and collected 149 this year alone. She served as a tutor with Christian World Missions Youth Community Explosion Tutoring throughout the spring semester. In the fall, she worked with the Special Olympics and Salvation Army and volunteered at multiple 5Ks in the community.
