STARKVILLE – With Mississippi State Athletics en route to a school record amount of teams reaching NCAA postseason, Bulldog student-athletes continue to raise the standard in the classroom as well. MSU scholarship student-athletes produced the highest spring grade point average on record with a 3.09, while 53 Bulldogs officially received their degrees this semester.
"Our Bulldog student-athletes continue to show their commitment to academic excellence," said Director of Athletics John Cohen. "I am proud of their accomplishments. Mississippi State is a special place where providing an educational experience of a lifetime and preparing our student-athletes for the future is of the utmost importance. I want to congratulate those student-athletes who are now Bulldog graduates, and I wish them the best of luck as they move forward with their careers."
The 3.09 cumulative GPA was the fourth consecutive semester of a 3.0 or better, which resulted in a combined fall 2018 and spring 2019 all-sport scholarship GPA of 3.12. In addition, 57 student-athletes posted a 4.0 this spring to garner Top Dawg honors.
Women's golf, which reached NCAA postseason play this spring, led the way with a 3.53 GPA this semester. Women's track and field posted the second-highest mark with a 3.46.
