CHICAGO, Illinois – Quinndary Weatherspoon and Reggie Perry of the Mississippi State men's basketball program will have the opportunity to put their talents on full display in front of all 30 teams at the 2019 NBA Draft Combine.
Both players have already had the chance to participate in several pre-draft workouts with numerous NBA squads over the last few weeks. Perry was able to showcase his talents at the 2019 NBA G League Elite Camp in Chicago earlier this week. He posted an 18-point, 10-rebound performance during one of the camps scrimmage games.
Prospects are selected to attend the combine by invitation only from the NBA based on feedback and requests from the 30 franchises. ESPN2 will provide television coverage on Thursday and Friday from 2-6 p.m. CT. The coverage also will be available on the WatchESPN platform.
The combine enables the best draft-eligible prospects to partake in physical measurements and interviews along with shooting, strength and agility drills. The players also will play in five-on-five games in front of NBA coaches, general managers and scouts.
Under NCAA rules, underclassmen like Perry are allowed to "test the waters" by declaring for the NBA Draft, participating in the NBA Combine and working out for individual teams. New NCAA rules this season also allow players to sign with an NCAA-certified agent and still return to school. Players will have until 10 days after the conclusion of the NBA Combine, May 29, to retain their college eligibility.
The 2019 NBA Draft is set for Thursday, June 20 hosted by the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Mississippi State has had 24 players selected in its NBA Draft history. Most recently, Arnett Moultrie was chosen with the 27th pick by the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft.
The Bulldogs have had four top 15 picks which include Bailey Howell at No. 2 by the Detroit Pistons in 1959, Rickey Brown at No. 13 by the Golden State Warriors in 1980, Jeff Malone at No. 10 by the Washington Bullets in 1980 and Erick Dampier at No. 10 by the Indiana Pacers in 1996.
Mississippi State posted a 23-11 record last season and secured the program's 11th NCAA Tournament appearance. The Bulldogs have dialed up 48 victories over the last two seasons which is tied for second-most in program history over a two-year span and fourth among SEC schools during that span.
