State Draws with Memphis to Open Spring Exhibition Play

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Mississippi State's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Memphis on Sunday to open the Bulldogs' spring exhibition schedule.
MSU fell behind early, after conceding a penalty kick in the 20th minute. State fought back to equalize in the 30th minute. Rising sophomore Miranda Carrasco fired in a cross near the goal that slipped past the keeper for a goal.
Carrasco's crosses contributed to seven assists last season, but the Cypress, Texas, native did not find the back of the net in her first season on the pitch.
Early enrollee Katie Moore made her first appearance in net for State. Alyssa Austin and Madison Cotta also donned the Maroon and White for the first time in their careers.
MSU will now travel to Orange Beach, Alabama, the annual site of the SEC Tournament, to meet Florida on Saturday, March 30. The Dawgs and Gators will kick off on a neutral site at 3:30 p.m. CT.
