Bulldogs To Open Spring Season In The Shootout At Shoal Creek

STARKVILLE – All of the offseason training culminates Sunday as the Mississippi State women's golf team travels to Shoal Creek, Alabama, for a quad match to tee off the spring season.
The Bulldogs will play a single 18-hole round on the Par-72 Shoal Creek Golf Course against neighboring rivals Ole Miss, Alabama, and Auburn.
Head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm and assistant coach Kortnie Maxoutopoulis are eager to see how their team performs on this top course against highly ranked competition.
"We have an amazing opportunity to compete on a top course in the U.S. to start our spring season," said Brown-Lemm. "Shoal Creek has hosted some of the biggest amateur and professional events in golf, much like our home course Old Waverly. We look forward to the competition with three other SEC programs."
Aubree Jones will lead the Bulldogs into the first round of the second half of the season. Although Jones is only a sophomore, she has a veteran presence and brings a sense of leadership to the squad. She has also been selected to carry the team bag honoring SFC Henderson.
Junior Clara Moyano, a Spain native who brings a competitive edge to the group, joins Jones in the lineup for her 12th debut as a Bulldog.
Sophomore Blair Stockett will be joining the veterans after a strong showing last fall, which included a tie for sixth in the Magnolia Invitational.
Freshman Hannah Levi will make her sixth straight appearance for MSU since joining the team in August. She leads the team in low 18 with a 67, 4-under par performance in the 2018 Schooner Fall Classic. Senior Katie Holt will round out the lineup to begin her last stretch as a Bulldog.
Freshman Lauren Miller will compete as an individual in Sunday's tournament. She leads the Bulldogs with a 73.36 stroke average through five consecutive appearances.
