Danberry, Bibby Tabbed Preseason All-SEC by League Coaches
October 29, 2019 | Women's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As two of Mississippi State's top returners from a year ago, Jordan Danberry and Chloe Bibby earned preseason All-SEC recognition from league coaches, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Danberry ranked third on the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game and was second in assists (125) and steals (65) after starting all 36 games last season. The graduate guard scored double figures in 13 of 16 SEC games and averaged 14.3 points during conference play. She also ranked eighth in the league with a 1.47 assist/turnover ratio.
After earning an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA, Danberry immediately gave the Bulldogs a leader on a team the features seven newcomers and only two other returning upperclassmen. Last year, the Conway, Arkansas, native posted five performances of 20 or more points, including a career-high 26-point effort against Arkansas.
Before going down with a season-ending injury in January, Bibby was one of the most efficient 3-point shooters in the country. The Warracknabeal, Australia, native ranked No. 22 in the country and third in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting a 45-percent clip from beyond the arc, at the time of her injury.
Bibby recorded seven games with at least three 3-pointers and scored in double figures 14 times for an average of 11.9 points per game. The junior forward also averaged 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting a .481 clip from the field.
Mississippi State hosts defending Division II national champion Lubbock Christian on Nov. 4 for an exhibition before officially opening its 2019-20 campaign at home on Nov. 9 against Southern Miss.
With 15 opportunities to watch the Bulldogs in Humphrey Coliseum during the 2019-20 schedule, season tickets are $150 for 200 level side court reserved seats and general admission is $85.
