Four Bulldogs Named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four members of the Mississippi State softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2018-19 academic year, the organization announced Wednesday.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher over the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters.
Two of the four Bulldogs honored return for the 2020 season in sophomores Grace Fagan and Chloe Malau'ulu. The remaining two honorees of Emily Heimberger and Taylor Kelly were part of MSU's talented 2019 senior class that led the program to its seventh NCAA Regional over the last eight seasons.
Mississippi State was also honored as a 2018-19 Easton/NFCA Division I All-Academic Team. The Bulldogs turned in a 3.26 cumulative team GPA to rank among the top 140 programs across the country. The team's GPA was the sixth highest among Southeastern Conference program's honored.
The 2019 fall season kicks on this weekend as the Bulldogs host East Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 4. Admission at Nusz Park is free.
