STARKVILLE – One of the top recruits of the 2019 signing class will make the trek to Starkville as third baseman/utility standout Paige Cook rounds out Mississippi State softball's 2019 signing class as announced by Vann Stuedeman on Thursday.
"We have been waiting a long time to get Paige Cook on campus," said associate head coach Samantha Ricketts. "She was our first commitment in this 2019 signing class, and we are excited to officially add her to the Bulldog softball family. Paige is an outstanding infielder who plays full speed all the time. Her jersey will always be dirty, and she plays with a true bulldog mentality on the field. She can hit for power and average and has played for multiple championships throughout her career. Paige has been waiting to join the Maroon and White for a long time, and we are excited to bring her championship level play to StarkVegas."
Cook signed with the Bulldogs ranking as the No. 44 recruit of the 2019 signing class by Extra Innings Softball and the No. 68 recruit by FloSoftball. The Cornelia, Georgia native has earned four-year letterwinner at Habersham Central High School and serves as the team captain.
"Three years ago, I committed to play softball at Mississippi State," Cook said. "When I first visited MSU, I had no idea what to expect. When I saw the campus, I fell in love. Starkville reminds me so much of my hometown. Everyone that I met was so nice. Watching how the team and coaches interacted made me feel like they were one huge family. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of that. I'm so happy to finally become a Bulldog!"
Cook is four-time All-Region selection for Raiders. She earned three best offense awards and one defense award over her time with Habersham. Last season, she won GADC All-State Team.
On travel ball scene, Cook competed with the GA East Cobb Bullets-Schnute. With the Bullets, she won the 16u IDT Championship and 18u Triple Crown Nationals.
Cook is the daughter of Kim and Eric Cook. She has a younger brother, Chase. She intends to major in kinesiology.
