STARKVILLE – Hailing as one of the top recruits in the 2019 recruiting class, outfielder Kiki Edwards signed as the sixth member of the 2019 Mississippi State softball signing class as announced by head coach Vann Stuedeman.
"We are excited to welcome Kiki Edwards to the MSU softball family," said assistant coach Tyler Bratton. "She was one of our first recruits in the 2019 class, and we have been counting down the days until this nationally-ranked recruit arrives to campus. Kiki has the ability to hit for both average and power at the next level as well as be a dynamic addition on the base paths. She is the type of player you want in the box with the game on the line. In addition to her power and speed, she also projects well defensively in the outfield. This native of Virginia and standout for perennial power EC Bullets, has appeared on many big stages at the regional level and also the national level, and we feel she will be an asset for the Maroon and White for years to come."
Edwards, a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, was ranked nationally by FloSoftball as the No. 88 recruit of the 2019 signing class and has been a proven champion on every level of competition.
"Often times I heard the comment, "You'll know when you know," Edwards said. "Well, the moment I stepped foot on campus, I knew that Mississippi State was where I wanted to continue my education and softball career. The coaching staff, the environment and the tradition immediately won my heart. My family is from Mississippi, so to return home and be a Bulldog is the best feeling ever!"
A four-year letterwinner at Osbourn Park High School, Edwards enters her senior season this spring serving as the team's captain for the second straight season.
Edwards has led the Yellow Jackets to 2016 and 2017 VHSL Class 6A State Championship appearances, bringing home the title to Osbourn Park over the 2016 season. The outfielder is a three-time all-conference selection and brought home all-region accolades in 2017 and 2018.
Currently a member of the Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier, Edwards saw a tremendous amount of success as a member of the East Cobb Bullets travel squad. With the Bullets, Edwards won the 16u IDT Championship and the 18U Triple Crown Nationals.
Outside of softball, Edwards volunteers at the Street Light Homeless Shelter and with the teen ministry at Mount Olive Baptist Church in her hometown. She is also a member of the Key Club.
Edwards is the daughter of Warren and Adrienne Broughton. She intends to major in kinesiology once enrolled at Mississippi State.
