STARKVILLE, Miss. – When Mississippi State student-athletes and visitors enter the Templeton Athletic Academic Center this fall, they will notice dramatic changes in the atrium. A renovation of the building's atrium space featuring a modern and edgy design with new graphics was recently completed.
"The atrium of the Templeton Athletic Academic Center is a showplace for many visitors and student-athletes – both current and prospective – throughout the year," MSU Director of Athletics John Cohen said. "We had a vision to modernize the space and tell the story of our athletic success. Our marketing department did an outstanding job executing the plan. This renovation will benefit all of our athletic programs for many years to come."
The atrium celebrates the historical athletic success of Mississippi State, including the remarkable 2017-18 year. Adidas uniformed mannequins and backlit graphics highlighting student-athletes as well as the achievements of each team adorn the walls.
As MSU Athletics has climbed to new heights, more and more Bulldogs are reaching the professional ranks of their respective sports. Three digital displays in the new Templeton Athletic Academic Center atrium recognize the Bulldogs who have gone from STATE to Sundays (NFL), STATE to the Show (MLB), STATE to the League (NBA/WNBA) and STATE to the Tour (LPGA/PGA).
In addition, a new eye-catching 10-foot wide halo and backlit "StarkVegas" sign anchors the space and welcomes visitors.
Fans interested in touring the new atrium of the Templeton Athletic Academic Center can do so on Saturday, Aug. 25 during MSU Fan Day between 3-5 p.m.
Dedicated on Nov. 1, 2008, the Templeton Athletic Academic Center was named for former MSU Director of Athletics Larry Templeton. The building's atrium is one of several ambitious MSU Athletic facility projects complete or nearing completion. Others include new Dudy Noble Field and the Left Field Lofts, the Davis Wade Stadium home gameday locker room and the renovation of the Floyd Wade, Jr. Club Level in Davis Wade Stadium.
