STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State head coach Tom Anagnost is continuing his rebuild of the Bulldog soccer program with the addition of the 2018 signing class. Along with a crop of freshmen, two transfers have come to Starkville.
The Bulldogs will be joined by four Texans and five international athletes along with players from Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New York, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
"We are excited to welcome this class to our team," Anagnost said. "They are a very diverse group of people. They come from all different parts of the country and the world. They will definitely add depth to our team and will be fun to coach."
Goalkeeper Peyton York (Prosper, Texas) and defender Zoe Smith (Plano, Texas) played their club soccer together at Solar FC. York was named the No. 21 club player out of Texas according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. Also from the Dallas-Fort Worth area is midfielder Niah Johnson (Rowlett, Texas) who spent her club career with the Dallas Sting. Miranda Carrasco (Cypress, Texas) was a three-time All-District performer for Cypress Woods High School and played club soccer with Challenge FC.
Forward Andrea Tyrrell (North York, Ont.) and defender Tianna Harris (Whitby, Ont.) join the Bulldogs from Canada. Midfielder Laura Galcerán (Barcelona, Spain), goalkeeper Héloïse Ralambosoa (Paris, France) and midfielder Andrea Compper (Paris, France) round out the internationals.
Compper spent the last two years at Coffeyville CC in Kansas where she was a NJCAA All-American. Ralambosoa has already made a name for herself in international competition as the starting goalkeeper for France's U23 team in April.
After adding Olivia Hernandez from Arizona State in 2017, MSU welcomes a second Sun Devil transfer this season in defender Hailey Zerbel (West Covina, Calif.). She brings 32 games worth of experience to a young Bulldog squad that will feature 19 underclassmen on a roster of 28.
The 2018 class features multiple dual-sport athletes. Forward Claire Ross (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was both a second-team all-state selection in soccer and a state champion in track and field, winning the 4x100m relay crown. Forward Zakirah McGillivary (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also ran track in high school and won her club soccer league's Upper 90 MVP award.
Forward Hailey Farrington-Bentil (Milwaukee, Wisc.) ran track and played basketball along with soccer while midfielder Liz Fogarty (Orange Park, Fla.) lettered in four sports including golf and football.
Megan Henry (Arlington, Tenn.) was named The Tennessean's Middle Tennessee Soccer Player of the Year after finishing her high school career with the second-most assists and third-most goals in school history.
Rounding out the class, Monigo Karnley (Boothwyn, Pa.) received All-Delaware Valley honorable mentions in three consecutive years, and totaled 90 points over two club seasons in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy program.
