STARKVILLE, Miss. – A new face will be on the course this season with Mississippi State women's golf and head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm.
Kortnie Maxoutopoulis has been named the Bulldogs' new assistant coach, replacing Leigh Treloar who will be moving from Starkville with her family.
"It is a great blessing and honor to be joining the Bulldog family," Maxoutopoulis said. "I'd like to thank Ginger (Brown-Lemm), Leigh (Treloar), Mr. (Jared) Benko and Mr. (John) Cohen, among many others, for the opportunity. We have so much to look forward to together! I believe through leading, empowering, challenging and loving our players well, we will reap great success. I'm eager to hit the ground running as we build on the legacy here at Mississippi State. Hail State!"
Maxoutopoulis comes to Starkville by way of Long Beach State University, where she spent a season as an assistant coach. She was a key factor in establishing the team's mission and values, and she played a role in leading the 49ers to a team win at the UC Irvine Invitational.
LBSU capped the regular season by winning the Big West Championship team and individual titles to propel the program to its first NCAA Regional berth since 2009. Before landing at Long Beach State, Maxoutopoulis was a graduate assistant for two years at Georgia Southern University, where she received her master's degree in Public Administration and Non-Profit Management.
While quickly becoming a rising star in the coaching ranks, she also was a standout on the links. The California native played three seasons at TCU after completing her freshman year at Rutgers.
Maxoutopoulis posted seven Top 10 finishes during her tenure at Rutgers, three of which were wins. She also garnered All-Big East and Big East All-Academic laurels in 2011-12. At TCU she participated in 24 events and collected three Top 10 and four Top 25 finishes, with her best finish coming at the 2015 Big 12 Championship where she claimed third.
Maxoutopoulis saw her love for the game originate while playing at Castlewood Country Club in her hometown of Pleasanton, Calif., where her family still resides.
Brown-Lemm also added another staff member with the addition of volunteer assistant Robbie Fields. Fields, a Hartselle, Ala., native, is currently a senior in Mississippi State's PGA Golf Management Department. Fields brings a great knowledge of instructional golf to the table, having worked with Northern Texas PGA Sectional, Crooked Stick Golf Club, the Sea Island Golf Performance Center and the Hank Johnson School of Golf.
"I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of this Bulldog program," Fields added. "I know Coach Brown-Lemm has had a lot of success with this program and returns a lot of talent and experience. It will be a good year and I am excited to get going."
